Sonic 3: A Concise Review

Sonic 3 was everything it needed to be. I am not a fan of the games, so it would be fictitious to talk about it as if I knew. However, after talking to a few avid fans, I concluded the movie was great. The only complaints I received were that minor details weren’t accurate to the games, but these details weren’t detrimental. The people I talked to loved the movie and were extremely happy with its contribution to the previous ones. Knuckles, Sonic’s, and Tails’ relationship expanded greatly after the second movie. Shadow came not as a surprise but was certainly memorable, his development as a character was crucial and it captivated me to learn how harsh his life was and how much he suffered. However sorrowful of a story, they still managed to make the movie funny all the time.

I enjoyed the movie immensely; the animation quality was unreal. My favorite character yet is Shadow, although I am excited about the new additions in the upcoming movies. Jim Carrey (Doctor Eggman) was extraordinary in it. This is the actor’s last movie before retirement and he certainly went out with a bang. The appearance of the Doctor’s father (Gerard Robotnick — also played by Jim Carrey) was interesting, to say the least. It was definitely funny.

All the work put into this movie is admirable and it was certainly worth watching. I would rate the movie a 9.5/10 because I could only give a 10 if it was entirely accurate to the games. I would recommend it to anyone interested. It is important to note that there is a very important second end-credit scene, so wait a little longer, you won’t regret it.
